If you run a Shopify or Shopify Plus store doing $1M to $50M and you’re comparing Shopify SEO services, start with the short answer below. After that you’ll find:

  • A comparison table and a full review of each agency

  • How Shopify stores are showing up in AI search
  • What Shopify SEO costs, worked through with a store’s unit economics

Rankings are based on each agency’s own website, service pages and pricing pages, Shopify Partner Directory status as claimed by the agencies, Clutch scores, and third-party comparisons. All sources were reviewed September 20, 2026. Any price shown as an estimate comes from those third-party comparisons, not from the agency.

About this ranking: 95 Projects publishes this guide and ranks itself first. We held ourselves to the same checks. We believe we earn the top spot because we’re the only agency listed with both public pricing and multiple Shopify revenue result (Buoy: 1,200% organic revenue lift in 12 months, and more).

How We Evaluated These Shopify SEO Agencies

We ran every agency on this page through the same five checks, including our own. None of them require you to take an agency’s word for anything, and you can run all five yourself on a sales call before you sign.

Proof Tied to Revenue

We looked for at least one dated Shopify or ecommerce result that reports organic revenue or organic orders. Sessions, impressions and keyword rankings are inputs: they tell you the store got more attention, not that it made more money.

On Shopify, traffic can climb while revenue sits flat, usually because the new traffic lands on the wrong page types or on collections that don’t convert. If an agency can’t show you a case where organic revenue moved, and when it moved, you’re buying a reporting dashboard, not a growth program. Ask for the date, the store, and how they define the metric.

Shopify Technical Depth, and Whether They Ship the Fixes

We checked for evidence that the team has worked inside Liquid templates, not just inside an SEO tool. We looked for experience with:

  • Duplicate product paths under collections
  • Variant and filtered collection URLs
  • Script and app bloat slowing down every template
  • Core Web Vitals on real theme code
  • Structured data driven by metafields rather than hardcoded into a snippet
  • International setup through Shopify Markets

Then we asked a second question that matters more: does the agency implement the fixes, or hand your developer a document? A recommendation sitting in a spreadsheet earns nothing. Ask who touches the theme, whether they work in a duplicate theme, and how fixes get tested before they’re published.

AI Search Readiness

A growing share of buying research now ends inside an AI answer, which changes what an SEO program should optimize for. We looked for a stated approach to visibility in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT shopping answers and Perplexity, plus evidence that it has worked on a real store. Ask the agency which prompts they track for clients like you, and how they measure a citation or a product recommendation.

Published Pricing and Contract Terms

We gave credit for published pricing, or at least a stated range on the website. Where an agency publishes nothing, we used third-party estimates and labeled them. We also looked at the initial term, the notice period, and what happens at renewal.

Pricing that only appears after a discovery call usually means the number is set by what the agency thinks you’ll pay. Ask for the range, the minimum term and the notice period in writing before the second call.

Who Actually Does the Work

Retainers are priced on senior time but often delivered by whoever is available. We looked at three things:

  • How many accounts each strategist carries
  • Whether the person who builds the strategy also runs it
  • How many new clients the agency takes on at once

Shopify SEO involves judgment calls on templates, collection architecture and internal linking that a junior working from a checklist will get wrong. Ask who will be on your calls in month six, and how many other accounts that person owns.

Best Shopify SEO Agencies

1. 95 Projects

95 Projects is an SEO agency founded in 2022. The work is SEO-led, which means organic and AI search are the whole program, not one line item inside a paid media retainer. Senior strategists carry capped account loads, and the agency takes on a small number of new engagements each quarter, so the people who sell the strategy are the people who run it.

Digital PR is handled in-house rather than brokered out. That matters on Shopify because once the technical work is done, collection and category authority is usually what’s holding a store back.

Shopify SEO results for ecommerce brand, Buoy:

  • 1,200% organic revenue lift in 12 months across its Shopify catalog.
  • Zero to the #1 recommendation on ChatGPT in three weeks for category-defining buyer queries, with attributable revenue in the first month of that work.

Read the full case study here.

Other Shopify SEO results include: Catchmaster went from zero to 44,000 monthly organic visitors, with product and collection pages earning AI Overview citations. Vintage Luxe Up moved from position 18 to #1 on Google in 90 days for luxury fashion category queries.

Pricing

$5,000 to $20,000 per month, published on the site. Scope depends on catalog size, technical debt in the theme, and how much digital PR the category requires.

Pros

  • Published pricing, with no gated rate card
  • The founder is involved on every account, with no handoff to a junior after the pitch
  • Capped account loads and a limited number of new engagements per quarter
  • In-house digital PR rather than outsourced link buying
  • A dated Shopify revenue case, not a traffic-only screenshot
  • AI search treated as a measurable channel, with a documented three-week win on ChatGPT

2. 1Digital Agency

1Digital Agency has run out of Philadelphia since 2012. It describes itself as a certified Shopify Plus Partner and an Elite BigCommerce Partner.

Its Shopify SEO page is unusually specific for an agency site. It covers:

  • Liquid theme and app-stack audits, plus Core Web Vitals
  • Online Store 2.0 sections and metaobjects
  • Collection hierarchy and duplicate variant URL governance
  • Metafield-driven Product, Review and FAQ schema
  • Shopify Markets hreflang
  • llms.txt and AI-engine citation tracking

The agency says plainly that it ships code. That puts it in a different bucket from firms that hand you a recommendations document and wait.

It self-reports 400+ brands served, a 4.9/5 rating across 941+ reviews, and 50+ in-house SEO specialists. Those figures come from its own site rather than a third party, so treat them as claims.

Pricing

Published:

  • National SEO tiers: $1,499 to $5,999 per month
  • Local tiers: $899 to $4,499 per month
  • One-time onsite projects: $1,699 to $4,399
  • Out-of-scope work: $185 per hour

The initial term is six months, then month-to-month.

Pros

  • Publishes a full rate card, including hourly and project work
  • Named Shopify Plus Partner with in-house development
  • The technical scope on its Shopify page matches what large catalogs actually need

Cons

  • Six-month initial term before month-to-month
  • Review counts and team size are self-reported
  • Broad multi-platform client base, so Shopify is one specialty among several

3. OuterBox

OuterBox is an ecommerce-focused SEO agency based in Ohio, and Skai Lama lists it as a Shopify Partner. Siege Media describes a roughly 250-person in-house team covering both strategy and implementation, and names New Balance, K-Swiss and JetDock among its clients.

Its Shopify SEO page covers collections, products, variants, filters, apps, Liquid templates, theme speed, structured data, internal linking, CRO and revenue reporting. That’s the right surface area for a store with thousands of SKUs. Its published Shopify case is Lethal Performance, an automotive aftermarket store, which Skai Lama reports at +490% organic traffic.

Pricing

Not published. Third-party estimate of about $2,500 to $10,000+ per month.

Pros

  • Large in-house team handling strategy and execution together
  • Recognizable brand clients
  • Deep experience with complex product catalogs and variant-heavy stores

Cons

  • May be more agency than a small store needs (per Siege Media)
  • Content work is strongest in technical and industrial categories (per Skai Lama)
  • No published pricing, so budget conversations start on a call

4. Searchbloom

Searchbloom operates out of South Jordan, Utah. Two things stand out in third-party coverage:

  • Flexible terms and direct access. Siege Media notes month-to-month contracts with no long-term commitment, and direct access to the analysts doing the work rather than an account manager in between.
  • Partner status and reviews. Skai Lama lists it as a Shopify Partner with a Clutch rating of 4.9/5 from 100 reviews.

Siege Media names Granite Seed Company, Advanced Clinicals and JBW Watches as clients.

Pricing

Not published. Third-party estimate of about $1,500 to $5,000+ per month.

Pros

  • Month-to-month terms, which lowers the cost of being wrong about the fit
  • You talk to the analyst running your account
  • Strong Clutch review volume for a team of its size

Cons

  • A smaller team that may hit capacity if your store scales quickly (per Skai Lama)
  • Pricing is not published

5. Whitecap SEO

Whitecap SEO works exclusively on Shopify stores and has been listed as a Shopify SEO Expert since 2012. According to Skai Lama, it holds Preferred Shopify Plus Partner status and a Clutch rating of 4.9/5.

Fourteen years on one platform is rare. It shows in the kinds of problems a team like this has already solved: theme migrations, collection architecture on long-lived catalogs, and the app debris that builds up in a store nobody has audited since the last replatform.

Pricing

Not published. Third-party estimate of about $2,000 to $8,000 per month.

Pros

  • Shopify-only focus with a long track record on the platform
  • Preferred Shopify Plus Partner status
  • Strong Clutch rating

Cons

  • A smaller team, with intake wait times
  • Shopify-only, so there’s no support if part of your business runs on another platform
  • Pricing is not published

6. Netalico Commerce

Netalico Commerce has worked exclusively on Shopify since 2013, and Skai Lama lists it as a Shopify Plus Premier Partner. The team includes Shopify developers, so technical recommendations get implemented instead of waiting in your internal dev queue. Skai Lama also reports the agency’s self-reported average of 58% first-year organic traffic growth across clients. That’s the agency’s own claim, not an audited figure.

Pricing

Not published. Third-party estimate of about $3,000 to $10,000+ per month.

Pros

  • Shopify Plus Premier Partner with in-house Shopify developers
  • More than a decade on a single platform
  • A good fit when your SEO backlog is mostly engineering tickets

Cons

  • Development-first orientation; content strategy and link acquisition are described as less of a strength (per Skai Lama)
  • The growth figure is self-reported
  • Pricing is not published

7. Coalition Technologies

Coalition Technologies has been in business since 2009 and operates out of Culver City, in Los Angeles. Skai Lama lists it as a Shopify Plus Partner. It’s a full-service shop covering web design, SEO, digital PR and development.

Siege Media reports 300+ clients served and names Microsoft and Roku among them. Skai Lama cites Coalition’s self-reported claim of $588M+ in SEO-driven client revenue, plus a Pink Lily Shopify Plus case study in fashion.

Pricing

Not published. Third-party estimate of about $2,500 to $10,000+ per month.

Pros

  • Design, development, SEO and digital PR from one vendor
  • Recognizable enterprise logos
  • A published Shopify Plus fashion case study

Cons

  • Enterprise-style pricing means smaller stores may not get senior strategists on the account (per Skai Lama)
  • Full-service scope can dilute SEO focus
  • The revenue claim is self-reported

What a Shopify SEO Agency Should Actually Fix

Shopify gives you clean defaults, then hands you a set of structural problems no other platform has in quite the same shape. Any agency you shortlist should be able to talk through the list below without opening a template.

Duplicate Product Paths and Liquid Internal Linking

Shopify serves the same product at /products/handle and at /collections/collection-handle/products/handle. Canonicals point back to the /products/ version, so this usually isn’t an indexing catastrophe. At scale, though, it fragments internal linking and crawl efficiency.

The fix lives in the theme. Product grid snippets, related-product blocks, quick-add modals and breadcrumb logic in Liquid all need to output the canonical /products/ path. On a 5,000-SKU catalog, that one change moves a large volume of internal links onto the URLs you actually want ranking.

Variant and Filter URLs

Variant parameters and filtered collection views multiply URLs fast, especially once the Search & Discovery app or tag-based filtering is in play. To keep them under control:

  1. Decide which filtered views deserve to be indexable because they match real buyer demand, like a color or size people search for by name.
  2. Treat everything else as pure navigation.
  3. Give indexable filter views unique titles, headings and copy.
  4. Handle the rest through canonical and robots rules rather than leaving it to chance.

Collection Hierarchy and Sibling Cannibalization

Most Shopify stores grow collections organically until two or three sibling collections target the same query, with near-identical product sets and copy. Google picks one and keeps swapping which it ranks.

The fix is consolidation and hierarchy. One collection owns the head term, subcollections own the qualified modifiers, and internal links follow that order. This is one of the most common reasons a Shopify store plateaus after its technical cleanup is done.

App and Script Bloat and Core Web Vitals

Every app that injects a script adds weight to templates it has no business touching. Review widgets, upsell apps, chat, popups and duplicate analytics tags pile up over the years.

Audit what loads on product and collection templates specifically. Remove apps nobody uses, defer what can be deferred, and measure the effect on LCP, INP and CLS. INP is often where Shopify themes with heavy third-party JavaScript struggle, and it’s usually fixable without a replatform.

Structured Data From Metafields and Metaobjects

Generate Product, Offer, AggregateRating and BreadcrumbList markup from metafields and metaobjects. Don’t hardcode it, and don’t bolt it on with a plugin that duplicates what your theme already outputs.

Metaobject-driven schema stays accurate when prices, stock status or review counts change, and it gives AI search engines structured facts to cite. Also check for duplicate markup coming from both an app and the theme. It’s common and quietly wasteful.

robots.txt.liquid

Shopify auto-generates canonical tags, sitemap.xml and robots.txt. You can edit the robots file through robots.txt.liquid, which lets you add or remove rules for filtered URLs, internal search paths and crawler-specific directives. It’s a small file with a large blast radius, so changes belong in a tested theme branch with a rollback plan.

Shopify Markets, Subfolders and Hreflang

If you sell internationally, Shopify Markets handles international domains or subfolders and generates hreflang. The failure modes are predictable:

  • Markets configured with overlapping currency and language settings
  • Pages missing from a market, so hreflang points at a 404
  • Localized collections that never got translated copy

Fix the configuration before you spend anything on international content.

Theme Updates That Break SEO

Theme updates and section rebuilds regularly wipe out schema snippets, heading structure and canonical logic that someone added by hand months earlier. An agency worth paying keeps a record of every SEO-relevant theme customization, reapplies it after each update, then recrawls to confirm. Ask any agency you’re considering how they handle this. The answer tells you whether they’ve actually lived inside Shopify themes.

Pew Research Center studied 68,879 Google searches by 900 US adults in March 2025 and published the results on July 22, 2025. When an AI summary appeared, users clicked a traditional search result on 8% of visits, compared with 15% of visits with no summary. They clicked a link inside the summary itself on just 1% of visits.

For a Shopify brand, that changes what a good organic result looks like. Many buyers now resolve the question without leaving the results page, so being the cited source inside an AI answer carries weight that a blue link two positions down doesn’t. The buyers who do click through after reading an AI recommendation arrive with your brand already shortlisted.

This is also a channel where speed is possible in a way it rarely is with classic rankings. Buoy went from no presence to the top recommendation on ChatGPT in three weeks for category-defining buyer queries, with attributable revenue in month one. The mechanics behind that are the same ones that make any Shopify catalog legible to a machine reader:

  • Consistent entity information, both on the site and off it
  • Accurate product and review markup fed from real data
  • Collection pages that answer the comparison question directly, instead of listing SKUs above a paragraph of filler
  • Third-party coverage that gives a model something to cite besides your own homepage

Best Shopify SEO Agency by Use Case

A ranked list is useful, but the right agency depends on what you’re trying to solve this year. Here’s how the lineup breaks down by situation. Where another agency is the better fit, we say so.

Use Case Top Pick Also Consider Why
Best overall for $1M to $50M Shopify brands 95 Projects OuterBox Published $5,000 to $20,000/month pricing, revenue-based reporting, and senior strategists on capped account loads
Best for AI search and ChatGPT visibility 95 Projects 1Digital Agency Took a Shopify client from no presence to the top ChatGPT recommendation in three weeks, with revenue attributed in month one
Best for revenue-based reporting 95 Projects OuterBox Reports non-branded organic revenue rather than sessions and keyword positions
Best for senior, founder-level attention 95 Projects Searchbloom Founder Austin Coker sits on every account, and the agency takes a small number of new engagements per quarter
Best for pairing technical SEO with digital PR 95 Projects Coalition Technologies Digital PR runs in-house alongside the theme and content work instead of being subcontracted

What Results a Shopify Business Can Expect

Nobody can tell you what your store will do before looking at it. What’s predictable is the order things happen in, and what should be moving at each stage.

How long each stage takes depends on your starting point, catalog size, domain authority, category competition, and how fast fixes actually get deployed to the live theme. That last factor is usually the real constraint, and it’s the one most brands underestimate.

Technical and Template Fixes Come First

This stage covers crawl control, duplicate paths, indexation of filtered and variant URLs, app and script load, and template-level internal linking. It rarely produces a dramatic revenue chart on its own. What it does is stop the store from wasting crawl attention and page speed, which makes everything after it work. On stores with real technical debt, this phase can produce a quick lift, because existing demand was being blocked rather than missing.

Collection and Content Work Is Where Revenue Usually Shows Up

Once the templates are clean, the work moves to collection pages, product page content, and the buying-guide content that supports them. On most Shopify stores, collections carry the commercial keywords and product pages convert the traffic. Improvements here tend to show up in revenue before anywhere else, because the pages being improved already sit close to the purchase.

Authority and Digital PR Compound Over Time

Links and brand mentions are the slowest line on the chart, and the one that keeps paying after the retainer ends. Don’t judge this work in the first weeks, because it won’t have moved yet. Judge it on whether the placements are in real publications your buyers read.

AI Search Can Move Faster Than Google

This is the one area where timelines have changed. When the underlying content and structure are right, visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews can shift in weeks rather than quarters.

Here’s one example from our own client reporting. Buoy, a hydration drops brand on Shopify, went from no presence to the #1 recommendation on ChatGPT within three weeks for its category-defining buyer queries, with attributable revenue in month one. Across the same Shopify catalog, organic revenue rose 1,200% over twelve months.

That’s one store in one category, and it isn’t a forecast for yours. It shows what the sequence looks like when the technical work, the collection work and the AI search work run together instead of separately.

What to Measure

Five numbers tell you whether a Shopify SEO retainer is working:

  • Non-branded organic revenue. Branded organic revenue mostly reflects your paid spend and brand strength, not your SEO.
  • Organic new-customer orders, separated from returning customers.
  • Revenue split by page type, collections against product pages, so you can see where the program is actually winning.
  • Visibility on your priority AI prompts, tracked as citations and product recommendations rather than a single score.
  • Contribution margin generated against the retainer cost. This is the number that settles the renewal conversation.

Treat Guarantees as a Warning

Any agency that guarantees a ranking position, or commits to a revenue number by a specific date, is guessing, usually in the direction that closes the deal. Rankings depend on competitors and search engines that neither of you controls. What an agency can reasonably commit to is scope, how fast work ships, who does it, and how it gets reported.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Shopify SEO services cost in 2026?

On this list, pricing runs from about $1,500 to $20,000 per month. Entry tiers around $1,500 to $3,000 typically cover audits, on-page work and limited content. Senior-led programs that include digital PR and AI search work generally start around $5,000 per month.

No. Partner status shows a platform relationship and development capability, which helps with migrations and custom theme work. It doesn’t show that the agency has produced organic revenue growth. Ask for a dated Shopify case study instead of relying on the badge.

It depends on where the store starts. Technical fixes on a catalog that already has rankings tend to move first. Collection consolidation and authority building take longer. AI search visibility can move faster, sometimes within weeks: Buoy reached #1 on ChatGPT in three weeks. Anyone promising specific ranking dates is guessing.

The two overlap heavily. Accurate product and review schema, consistent brand and product information across the web, comparison content that answers buyer questions directly, and third-party coverage all feed AI search visibility. The tracking works differently from rank tracking, so ask how an agency measures it.

One in-house SEO gives you continuity and context, but rarely covers technical Shopify work, content and digital PR at once. An agency gives you a team across those functions. Many larger stores run one in-house lead who manages an agency.
